We are all heartbroken over the passing of Maggie

We are all heartbroken over the passing of Maggie Wright Tesch, former Principal Dancer with Ballet West and Professor with the University of Utah School of Dance.

Maggie was an exquisite artist as well as an esteemed educator and cherished friend.

For Ballet West patrons, many of Maggie’s performances are memorable to this day, as in Val Caniparoli’s Lady of the Camillias and Lambarena and Eddy Toussaint’s Bonjour Brel.

Her rise to Principal Dancer was itself exciting to witness.

Maggie’s performance of Odette / Odile in Ballet West’s production of Swan Lake in 1998 was beyond memorable. That precise moment when the evil Von Rothbart seizes control over Odette is etched in our collective memories. Her performance took us to another dimension.

Farewell, beautiful Maggie. For us, your spirit is forever sublime.

We’re saddened at the passing of our darling fri

We’re saddened at the passing of our darling friend and guild member Peggy Bergmann, for whom the Park City Campus of the Frederick Quinney Lawson Ballet West Academy is named.

Just days ago, we attended an open house celebrating a new campus location. Principal Allison DeBona was very deliberate in thanking Peggy for making the existence of a Park City campus possible back in 2017. That first year, the Guild was instrumental in arranging for the Academy to participate in the Park City 4th of July Parade. It was such a great day. The Grand Master even handed Peggy the microphone! As usual, Peggy was at the center of a radiating love for youth, dance, and dance education. Peggy’s patronage to Ballet West and Ballet West Academy will positively impact the dance world for generations to come.

Farewell, kind and beautiful Peggy. We are all better humans, having had you in our lives. May your spirit soar!

Many Guild Members visited the new location of the Frederick Quinney Lawson Ballet West Academy, Peggy Bergmann Park City Campus at 786 Division Street at Silver Creek Summit.

It was a very happy occasion with Campus Principal Allison DeBona and Ballet West Academy Director Evelyn Cisneros-Legate making it official with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

The new campus is beautiful and Allison has a true vision for the future.

The Park City campus of the Frederick Quinney Laws

The Park City campus of the Frederick Quinney Lawson Ballet West Academy is named for community member and patron Peggy Bergmann.

Peggy made the opening of a campus in Park City in 2017 possible!

She has also been a beloved member of Ballet West Guild.

Peggy’s portrait hangs in the beautiful new Academy location at 786 Division Street at Silver Creek Summit.

We’re very grateful to Peggy for her everlasting love and support of Ballet West, the Academy, and the Guild.

More Artists in the House! Meet Nathan & Marian F

More Artists in the House!

Meet Nathan & Marian Florence who attended our annual Welcome Back Party for Dancers & Staff on Friday night.

Nathan is a Utah artist, film maker, sculptor, and photographer.

His large-scale work, “To Chase the Glowing Hours with Flying Feet” is a recent commission by the Stewart Family Foundation that hangs in the Capitol Room in memory of Regan Tolboe (1974-2022). Regan was a daughter of Diane Stewart, former staff member of Ballet West, and great friend to the Guild.

Marian is a musician with Salt Lake Symphony.

Nathan & Marian’s daughter, Maren Florence, is a company artist with Ballet West.

What an awesome circle of artists & friends!

Maria & Pilar Guzman ~ These sisters expressed interest in experiencing Ballet West performances and after just one performance, accepted our invitation to join Ballet West Guild.

They attended our Welcome Back Party for Dancers & Staff last Friday night and enjoyed making a lot of new friends, including our Guild Vice President, Brent Jensen and Remus!

Ballet West’s upcoming 2025-26 Season includes a staging of WEST SIDE STORY SUITE choreographed by Jerome Robbins with music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Following his 1957 Broadway musical and 1961 film adaptation, Robbins developed WEST SIDE STORY SUITE for NYC Ballet in 1995.

Guild members who attended our annual “Ballet in Bloom” were delighted with this floral arrangement by @juliesearseyre in anticipation of the upcoming production. Leslie and Frank Williams were the winners of this arrangement. AND!...it was their wedding anniversary!
