July 2017, Ballet West Guild collaborated with the Peggy Bergmann Ballet West Academy in Park City for an entry in Park City’s 4th of July Parade.

Each year, thousands and upon thousands line Historic Main Street in Park City for this nationally acclaimed Independence Day Parade. Folks from all over camp out the night before, they pile in 5 and 6 rows deep, they line the bridges and balconies. This year, an estimated 25,000 people attended the parade.

This was the first year Ballet West or its Academy has been in the parade. The Academy students wore bright polka dot dresses and performed to Katy Perry’s “Baby, You’re a Firework!” Dances were choreographed by Park City Academy Principal, Cati Snarr.

Peggy Bergmann, for whom the Park City Academy is named, rode in the front seat of our Independence Day phaeton which was driven by Ballet West Guild Co-Founder & President, Jennifer Malherbe.

This inaugural entry in the Park City 4th of July Parade was very well received. We had cheers and shout-outs and applause all along the parade route. There was more enthusiasm and support than we could possibly have imagined. The crowd was thrilled to see us; and we were just as thrilled with their response.

Many thanks to all of our Academy students, parents, and staff who helped make this incredible event happen. And many thanks to our Ballet West Guild members who participated in the parade and who lined the streets to cheer us on.

Ballet West Guild’s Mission is to support the artistic vision and educational outreach of Ballet West.
